Thrilled to be selected for the short list of the Jerwood drawing prize with one of my dark textural drawings.
A mix of charcoal and pastel with carborundum and glitter to give the depth through the texture. The series has a figurative and an emotional source. The starting point is Romney Marsh and Dungeness, where I live, with it’s sometimes bleak but always inspirational dramatic skies. It is also a personal response to a pervasive unease that I want to convey through the dark and ominous clouds.
